STARKVILLE, Miss.--The Famous Maroon Band and music department at Mississippi State are preparing for three major events during the first week of October.

First, the university's Band and Choral Rehearsal Hall building will be formally dedicated on the 5th.

Activities begin with a 7:30 p.m. concert by the MSU Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir in the McComas Hall theater, followed with an 8:45 ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new multi-million dollar music department facility located just across South Hardy Road from McComas.

The two other events take place on the 6th as part of MSU's 2007 Homecoming celebration, which this year culminates with a home football game with the University of Alabama at Birmingham. They include the band's:

--Second Parents Day, which last year drew more than 800 family members; and the

--Annual Alumni Band homecoming, which involves social and performing activities prior to and during the football game.
