STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State is releasing the dates and locations of its annual "update" seminars for small business owners, certified public accountants and others interested in the latest taxation information.
Organized from mid-November to mid-December by the College of Business and Industry's Division of Business Services, the five 2007 sessions are led by Danny Hollingsworth and Edd Milam.
Hollingsworth is MSU's H. Devon Graham Professor of Accountancy and coordinator of the college's graduate program in taxation. Before retiring last year, Milam was the longtime taxation program coordinator.
During each of five two-day sessions, the veteran Richard C. Adkerson School of Accountancy faculty members will explain the latest tax rulings and legislation, and update significant new developments. They also will examine current federal and state taxation issues, as well as those relating to retirement, ethics and other major areas.
Specific dates and locations for the daylong seminars include:
--Nov. 15 and 16, Delta State University's Ewing Hall, Cleveland. Oct. 31 is the registration deadline.
--Nov. 29 and 30, Southaven, DeSoto Civic Center (on Venture Drive). Nov. 7 is the registration deadline.
--Dec. 6 and 7, Hattiesburg's Lake Terrace Convention Center. Nov. 14 is the registration deadline.
--Dec. 13 and 14, Jackson Hilton Hotel (on East County Line Road). Nov. 21 is the registration deadline.
--Dec. 17 and 18, MSU's McCool Hall, home of the College of Business and Industry.
Nov. 28 is the registration deadline.
A $275-per-person early registration fee covers materials, instructions and refreshments. Forms postmarked after the individual deadline dates will be charged a $25 late fee.
If space is available, walk-in participants may be accepted for the full $300 amount. Telephone registrations will not be permitted.
Accountants participating in the seminar may qualify for 16 hours of continuing professional education credit.
