STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State officials announced Thursday [Aug. 9] the resumption of a comprehensive computer-based program to inform university football fans and others about the many campus activities scheduled during fall home-game weekends.

The MSU Game Day Web site--www.gameday.msstate.edu--is designed to be a one-stop directory of activities that includes hours of operation, contact persons and other key information. Where available, a link will be provided for activities with separate Web addresses.

"Last fall, this site received more than 126,000 'hits,'" said Jimmy Abraham, executive director of the MSU Alumni Association. "We expect more fans to visit the site this year."

The Bulldogs open the home football season Aug. 30 with a nationally televised night game against the Louisiana State University Tigers.

Abraham, also associate vice president for development and alumni, said the varied weekend activities "are designed both to enhance the game-day experience and give Mississippi State the opportunity to showcase our many offerings and proud accomplishments.

"The thousands of fans who will be coming to support Coach Sylvester Croom and our team will be better able to interact with the institution and with each other," he added. "We also believe this site can benefit supporters of the visiting teams."

University units recently received instructions on how to place their information on the Web site.

Other 2007 home football games include Gardner-Webb University, Sept. 22; University of Alabama, Birmingham, Oct. 6 (Homecoming); University of Tennessee, Oct. 13; University of Alabama, Nov. 10; and University of Mississippi, Nov. 23.
