STARKVILLE, Miss.--A longtime administrator at Mississippi State University-Meridian will be interim dean during the final selection of a candidate to succeed retiring dean Harold J. "Nick" Nichols.
Effective July 1, Dennis J. Mitchell, chair of the MSU- Meridian's Division of Arts and Sciences, will serve for the second time in a temporary leadership role while the search is concluded, said Provost Peter Rabideau.
"Dr. Mitchell served in an interim role during 2001-02, and we're pleased he is willing to assume a transition leadership as we finalize our national search," Rabideau said.
Three candidates are being considered for the position to be filled in the next several weeks, Rabideau added.
The finalists include D'Ann Campbell, director of foundation and government relations at the U.S. Coast Guard Foundation; Donna Clevinger, associate dean at Ohio University's Zanesville campus; and Dr. Jack Tucci, chair of MSU- Meridian's Division of Business and Industry.
