STARKVILLE, Miss.--Two members of Beta Gamma Sigma at Mississippi State are being recognized for outstanding achievements in the university's College of Business and Industry.
Juniors Jessica J. Faulkner of Natchez and Corey Hancock of Louisville recently received $1,000 scholarships from the business honor society at the conclusion of the spring semester.
Faulkner, an international business major, is the BGS Chapter Award Scholar on the basis of her academic, career preparation and leadership achievements. Hancock, an accounting major, was this year's choice for the John Mitchell Memorial Scholarship. Both students also are President's List Scholars.
Faulkner previously was selected for two other business college honors, including the James K. Ashford and William and Jo Ann Clark scholarships. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda honor society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
She has a long history and commitment to community service. In addition to being active in the humane societies of Adams and Oktibbeha counties, she has been a volunteer with local nursing and special care homes.
Hancock also is an earlier selection for the Ashford Scholarship, as well as a William M. Gulledge Memorial and MSU Scholars scholarships. He is a member of Phi Beta Phi, Beta Alpha Psi and Gamma Beta Phi honor societies.
His community involvements include student tutoring, Operation Christmas Child and efforts to provide needy children with school supplies.
The Mitchell Scholarship honors the late Starkville banker who had been honored by the BGS chapter for his many personal and professional achievements. The award was presented by his widow Ann, a retired university administrator and business leader.
