MSU Insurance Day to mark two decades of public service

STARKVILLE, Miss.--Gov. Haley Barbour and combat veteran, Fox News personality and best-selling author Oliver North are among special guests helping Mississippi State celebrate its 20th annual Insurance Day later this month.

Sponsored by the College of Business and Industry's Peter K. Lutken Chair of Insurance, the daylong April 25 program at the university's Bost Extension Center includes a series of assemblies and continuing education sessions The college's risk management, insurance and financial planning academic program is co-sponsor of the event.

Among other featured speakers will be MSU President Robert H. "Doc" Foglesong; state Insurance Commissioner George Dale; Bill Bailey, special counsel for the Insurance Information Institute and director of the Hurricane Insurance Information Center; Maj. Gen. Harold Cross, state adjutant general; and Marc Racicot, president of the American Insurance Association and former Republican National Committee chairman.

Also making presentations will be attorney Kenneth R. Feinberg, special master of the 9/11 Victims' Compensation Fund, and former New York insurance superintendent Greg Serio, who was in office at the time of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Held each spring semester, MSU Insurance Day traditionally attracts some 500 professionals. They include insurance company attorneys, claims adjusters and agents, as well as fire investigators, legislators, municipal and county managers, and law enforcement officials.

Edwin L. Duett Jr., a veteran College of Business and Industry faculty member, holds the Lutken endowed professorship.
