STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State's Indian Student Association again is sponsoring "Maroon Vibes," an evening of competitive song and dance events.

Designed to share and explain traditions and cultures of the South Asian subcontinent, the March 24 public program--which also includes a fashion show--will take place in the university's Perry Cafeteria. A 5:30 p.m. dinner will be held on the Drill Field in front of Lee Hall; the music-based challenges get under way an hour later.

General admission is $8. ISA members are admitted free.

Hetal Patel said the competitive categories include solo and duet singing, along with Bollywood/fusion, classical and regional dancing. Cash prizes again will be awarded to the winners, she added.

"Last year, we had participants from five Mississippi universities," the student organization's public relations director explained. "This time, we plan to make it as big, if not bigger, by inviting more universities and increasing the category ranges, depending on the number of contestants."

She added: "We invite all to come and share our culture."
