STARKVILLE, Miss.--The Air Force ROTC Honor Guard at Mississippi State will hold a public flag retirement ceremony Friday [March 30] on the university's Drill Field.

"We will be formally retiring any worn, faded or unserviceable American flag that members of the community bring," said Shawn L. Forbes. "Participants either may drop them by Middleton Hall before Friday or bring them to the ceremony that afternoon."

The program begins at 1 p.m.

"Individuals who bring in their old flags will receive a new 3-by-5-foot replacement and instructions for proper displays," said Forbes, support director for the Kenneth J. Snedden Squadron of the Arnold Air Society

"We also will have available cards and posters in support of our deployed troops for anyone to sign," he added.

Middleton Hall, home of both the Air Force and Army Reserve Officers Training Corps programs, is located on the east side of campus at the intersection of Lee Boulevard and Hardy Road.

The Arnold Air Society is made up of AFROTC cadets in the top 10 percent of their wing.
