Diversity Awards to be given in January

The President's Commission on the Status of Minorities and the Office of Diversity and Equity Programs are pleased to announce the annual MSU Diversity Awards Program. This program is designed to recognize individuals who have demonstrated a significant commitment to enhancing diversity at Mississippi State University. The Diversity Award will be given annually to a faculty, staff and/or student of the campus community who has actively and positively promoted the concept of diversity and improved cross-cultural understanding through his or her positive interactions with others.

The award recipient(s) must have demonstrated a high regard for diversity by demonstrating one or more of the following:

  • A commitment to the spirit of diversity.
  • Leadership through positive interaction between persons of different cultural backgrounds.
  • Behavior which illustrates commitment to inclusion of persons within the institution who are members of traditionally under-represented groups.

The award will be presented by the President of the University, or a designee, at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Breakfast on January 15, 2007. Up to three (3) recipients will be honored. Each winner will receive an engraved plaque. One individual, from among the three, will be selected to compete for the IHL Diversity Award. This individual will also get a monetary award.
