STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State immediately is beginning a search for the position of vice president for external affairs, a key cabinet position responsible for fundraising and alumni relations.
Dennis A. Prescott, who has held the position since 1999, is leaving to become vice president for development at Baylor University in his native Texas.
Prescott holds a doctorate from Mississippi State and master's and bachelor's degrees from Texas A&M.
"We appreciate the contributions Dennis has made to moving Mississippi State University forward, especially in launching the university's capital campaign, 'State of the Future,'" said MSU President Robert H. "Doc" Foglesong.
The search process to name a new vice president will be headed by Bill Kibler, MSU's vice president for student affairs.
