STARKVILLE, Miss.--Following his arrest late Monday night, a Mississippi State University freshman from Alexandria, La., is being dismissed from the football team and is facing pending disciplinary action from the university.

Head football coach Sylvester Croom announced that wide receiver Keith Mills would be dismissed from the team immediately.

Mills is charged with burglary and uttering forgery. The theft involved a fellow student-athlete who lived in the same university residence hall.

"I have permanently dismissed Keith Mills from the football team," Croom said. "Although I understand that young people make mistakes, Keith's actions were completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our program."

MSU President Robert H. Foglesong said the university expects all MSU students to conduct themselves appropriately.

"We live in a small community, and we won't tolerate infringing on the rights of another," he said. "We don't want to just talk that talk, but we want our students to know we will walk the walk as well. We take this seriously."

Mills has seen no game action this year.
