STARKVILLE, Miss.--A sibling quintet performing on Steinway grand pianos will open Mississippi State's 2006-07 Lyceum Series next month.

The 5 Browns, whose venues have ranged from the Lincoln Center to elementary schools, will perform Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the university's historic--and newly renovated--Lee Hall auditorium.

Heralded by the New York Post as "the biggest classical music sensation in years," the twentysomething brothers and sisters--Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra, and Desirae--bring together distinctive keyboard talents, honed simultaneously at New York's Juilliard School.

Performing together, individually and in various combinations, The 5 Browns have become a phenomenon in classical music. They have earned international fame and been featured on NBC's Weekend Today and ABC's The View, among other programs.

"No Boundaries," their latest album, has spent 20 consecutive weeks at No.1 on Billboard's Traditional Classical chart.

Available at the door, tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens (65 and over by request), and $8 for children 3-12. MSU students will be admitted free with identification.

All seats purchased at the door are general admission. Individual reserved tickets are available in advance at www.ticketweb.com.

Season tickets for the 2006-07 Lyceum Series are $50 for the general public and include performances by contemporary dance ensemble Ailey II, jazz guitarist Jesse Cook with vocalist Sophie Milman, The Acting Company in a dramatization of "Jane Eyre," and Canadian Brass, a quintet celebrating its 35th performing season.

A separate Lyceum Faculty Chamber Series featuring six performances by MSU music faculty also is included as part of the season.

Lyceum tickets can be purchased at the door or they may be ordered by sending a check and a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Lyceum Series Season Tickets, P.O. Box HY, Mississippi State, MS 39762.

MSU faculty and staff and senior citizens with valid identification may purchase $40 discounted tickets. Season ticket holders will be provided with reserved seating.
