STARKVILLE, Miss.--Scores of voices are coming together next month for a Mississippi State University-organized free choral concert in downtown Starkville.

To begin at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 in the First Baptist Church sanctuary on Lampkin Street, the performance will feature the 130-member MSU Concert Choir, 44-member Chamber Choir and 70-member Men of Maroon and White.

All three groups will be directed by associate professor Bruce Lesley, head of choral music in MSU's music education department. Their wide-ranging repertoire will cover several musical periods.

Internationally recognized singers Jan Grissom and Eleanor McClellan will be featured soloists. Grissom, an operatic soprano and Tupelo native, and McClellan, an award-winning performer and current MSU vocal instructor, are, like Lesley, University of North Alabama alumni.

Matthew Chisholm, a freshman accounting major from Tupelo, will be featured on organ.
