University honors memory of Alcorn's Bristow

Flags at Mississippi State University this week are being lowered to half staff in memory of Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr., president of Alcorn State University.

Bristow, 57, died unexpectedly Saturday.

"I had known Dr. Bristow for only a short time, but I had great respect for his integrity and his leadership," said MSU President Robert H. "Doc" Foglesong. "Like those across the state, we mourn the loss of a great voice for Mississippi higher education."

Flags at all MSU locations around the state will remain at half staff throughout the week, Foglesong said.

Bristow had served as president of Alcorn State for 11 years.
