STARKVILLE, Miss.--A draft of Mississippi State's strategic plan for the future is being rolled out for comment and review by the university community and broad-based associated constituencies.
"FutureSTATE 2015" is available online at www.msstate.edu. The site includes a form for feedback and suggestions.
Initiated by university President Robert H. "Doc" Foglesong as one of his first actions on being named the institution's leader in April, the 27-page document is the result of a bottoms-up review by nearly 200 faculty members, staff, students, alumni, and community representatives.
"We have been as inclusive as possible and have had continuing discussions throughout the process, so there should be no surprises," Foglesong said. "But we don't want to overlook any good ideas or fail to address any major concerns."
Among primary goals that have emerged are enhancing student growth and development, achieving fiscal stability, expanding research opportunities and promoting economic development, and strengthening pride and involvement among constituent groups.
