Students from more than 21 countries will say farewell to Mississippi State during Friday [Aug. 11] ceremonies concluding a three-week summer program at the university.
During a 2 p.m. program in the Grisham Room of Mitchell Memorial Library, President Robert H. "Doc" Foglesong will address the 35 international scholars enrolled in the Fulbright Pre-Academic Program.
The group has spent the past several weeks immersed in the study of United States culture, language and academics in preparation for further graduate-level studies. The national program is funded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
The departing students will be returning to Ecuador, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Korea, Uganda, Senegal, Estonia, Namibia, Mexico, Rwanda, Italy, Turkey, Japan, Germany, Iraq, Pakistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Dominican Republic.
Their Mississippi experience has been coordinated by the Office of Graduate Studies, with assistance from representatives from other campus offices.
