MSU announces major dates for 2006 fall semester

STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State's fall semester classes get under way Thursday, Aug. 17.

For residents of campus housing, "move-in day" is Saturday, Aug. 12. For specific times, visit www.housing.msstate.edu/mvnu2msu/.

Aug. 15 and 16 are the final days to complete regular registration and pay tuition and fees. Aug. 16 also is new-student orientation day for all who didn't attend the June sessions.

Late registration and course additions continue through Aug. 23.

Other major dates for the school year's first semester include:

--Sept. 4, Labor Day holiday [University offices closed.].

--Oct. 2 and 3, fall break [No classes for students, but administrative offices open.].

--Oct. 14, Homecoming (for university alumni and friends), held in conjunction with the campus football game versus Jacksonville State University.

--Nov. 22-26, Thanksgiving holidays [No classes for students, but administrative offices open Wednesday, the 22nd. Campus closed on the 23rd and 24th.].

--Dec. 1, fall classes conclude.

--Dec. 4-8, final examinations.

--Dec. 8 and 9, Friday evening/Saturday morning commencement programs in Humphrey Coliseum.
