The Office of Graduate Studies is pleased to announce that Mississippi State University will host a Fulbright Pre-academic Summer Program July 22-August 12, 2006. The program will provide incoming Fulbright Grantees with a pre-academic program focusing on U.S. cultural orientation, English language training, and field of study preparation needed for successful academic study at U.S. institutions of higher education. Mississippi State University is one of only six institutions in the U.S. selected to host a summer program. The program is funded through the Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered through the Institute of International Education.
The program will promote professional development and refine formal English language and culture skills. Focus areas include classroom communication and presentation; academic research and writing skills; and critical reading. Other activities will include research opportunities and interaction with MSU faculty, English conversation, library research and internet skills, tours, and other activities designed to provide participants with learning and experiences for successful graduate study. Special activities will feature Southern culture, geography, music, and literature.
