During a June 26 [Monday] announcement at Mississippi State, university officials will unveil major support for a new initiative at the College of Veterinary Medicine.

In ceremonies to begin at 10 a.m. in the Wise Center foyer, a Lowndes County donor will join Vance Watson, vice president for agriculture, forestry and veterinary medicine, and new college dean Kent Hoblet in making the announcement.

The donor is supporting an effort that focuses on animal welfare and humane ethics.

Established in 1974, the College of Veterinary Medicine is one of only 28 in the United States and the only professional veterinary training program in Mississippi. Of veterinary practitioners currently working in the Magnolia State, more than 50 percent are graduates of the MSU college.

The Wise Center is located on Blackjack Road, near the intersection with Locksley Way.
