STARKVILLE, Miss.--The vice president for finance and administration at Mississippi State is a newly appointed board member of the Southern Association of College and Business Officers.
Ray Hayes will serve a two-year appointment as a member-at-large on the 13-member board.
Founded in 1928, SACUBO is one of four regional associations that constitute the Washington, D.C.-based National Association of College and University Business Officers. The organization represents more than 2,500 colleges, universities and higher education service providers and promotes effective principles and practices in the business and financial management of colleges and universities.
Hayes, a Winston County native who holds two degrees from Mississippi State, became vice president at the university in 2004 after serving 12 years in a similar position at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
As head of the finance and administration division, he has responsibility for units that include, among others, offices of the controller and treasurer, procurement and contracts, human resources management, campus landscape and grounds, custodial services, dining services, and facilities management.
