STARKVILLE, Miss.--Members of the Starkville community are invited to join Mississippi State faculty, staff and students Tuesday [April 11] at a public reception honoring university president and first lady Charles and Pat Lee, who officially retire April 15.
The come-and-go event at the Bryce Griffis Room of the recently completed Palmeiro Center will take place 2-4 p.m. A brief program will begin at 2:30 p.m.
For the convenience of central campus employees, the Maroon and Express shuttles will provide drop-off at the Palmeiro Center as a part of their normal routes. Shuttles also will be available at Humphrey Coliseum and the Palmeiro Center parking lots to further assist with transportation needs.
Lee was named president of Mississippi State in 2003, following a year of leadership as interim president. He had served since 1999 as vice president for agriculture, forestry and veterinary medicine and also had been dean since 2000 of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Lee began his higher education career in 1972 at the University of Arkansas at Monticello and subsequently held administrative positions at MSU and Texas A&M before returning to Starkville in 1999.
