STARKVILLE, Miss.--Freshmen and transfer students enrolling this fall at Mississippi State should be making plans to attend one of the university's six summer orientation sessions.
Four two-day programs for freshmen and two one-day programs for transfer students are scheduled during June. In addition to advance class scheduling and introductions to the many areas of campus life, students--and their parents--will have an opportunity to meet faculty members and administrators, as well as students already enrolled.
Dates of the freshman sessions are June 9 and 10, 15 and 16, 23 and 24, and 26 and 27. Transferring students should plan to visit June 8 and 19. Parents attend separate, concurrent sessions on these days.
Session dates are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Freshmen and their parents will check in from 7:30-9 a.m. on the day of their assigned session. Transfer students and their parents should arrive between 7-8:30 a.m. on the first day of their session.
For specific check-in locations, all orientation participants should visit www.orientation.msstate.edu at least a month prior to their arrival date.
"Our information sessions are geared specifically toward the concerns and questions about the transition the students are about to make," said Bill Kibler, vice president for student affairs. "They also provide a wealth of information for parents.
"We look forward to welcoming all to campus," he added.
Students already enrolled may use their assigned MSU NetID code to complete orientation registration. Confirmations will be sent by return e-mail.
Participants without Web access may telephone (662) 325-2224 to register or request a form. Additional general information also is available at this number.
