STARKVILLE, Miss.--An April 1 public concert at Mississippi State will feature the rhythms and music of Brazil.

The 7:30 p.m. program takes place in the Bettersworth Auditorium of Giles Hall, home of the university's architecture program.

The event is organized by pianist Rosangela Sebba, a faculty member in the music education department. A native of Brazil, she has conducted extensive research into the rich musical and cultural heritages of South America's largest and most populated country.

Coinciding with Starkville's annual International Fiesta, the festival features chamber music performed by various faculty ensembles.

Mark A. Williams, a University of Alabama faculty member and frequent performer in South America, will be guest artist. In addition to his campus teaching duties, Williams is principal bassoonist with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra--a position he also has held with the Orchestra Symphony of Bahia, Brazil.
