A Campus Wide Power Outage is scheduled for Monday evening, January 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m.. This outage will allow MSU electrical personnel to replace several worn-out/failing disconnect switches at the main substation, with an upgraded model. These switches are associated with each of the four main circuit feeders and have exhibited arcs and sparks when opened/closed in recent months, causing power interruptions. The replacement switches have been received. Installing the new replacement switches now (prior to the wet season) may mitigate this source of unplanned outage on campus. This scheduled date/time is the least obtrusive for campus operations. When the power is restored, MSU HVAC personnel will take steps as necessary to ensure that the buildings are back on for janitorial, etc.
