STARKVILLE, Miss.--Launched Monday [Aug. 22] at Mississippi State, a comprehensive computer-based program is informing university football fans and others about the many campus activities scheduled during fall home-game weekends.

The MSU Game Day Web site--www.gameday.msstate.edu--is designed to be a "one-stop directory of activities" that includes hours of operation, contact persons and other key information. Where available, a link will be provided for activities with separate Web addresses.

"Even with a late inaugural launch last fall, this site received more than 70,000 'hits,'" said Jimmy Abraham, executive director of the MSU Alumni Association. "This year, the site will be live two weeks prior to our first home game against Murray State University on Sept. 3."

Abraham, who also is associate vice president for external affairs, said the varied weekend activities "are designed both to enhance the game-day experience and give Mississippi State the opportunity to showcase our many offerings and proud accomplishments.

"The thousands who will be coming to support Coach Sylvester Croom and our Bulldog team should now be better able to interact with the institution and with each other," he added. "We also believe this site will benefit the visiting team's supporters."

University units recently received instructions on how to place their information on the Web site. Only on-campus entities may contribute.

In addition to the Sept. 3 Murray State game , MSU's home football schedule includes the University of Georgia on Sept. 24; Louisiana State University, Oct. 1; University of Houston (Homecoming), Oct. 22; University of Alabama, Nov. 5; and University of Mississippi, Nov. 26.
