STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State's fall semester classes get under way Thursday, Aug. 18.
For residents of campus housing, "move-in day" begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.
Aug. 16 and 17 are the final days to complete regular registration and pay tuition and fees. Aug. 17 also is new-student orientation day for all who didn't attend the June sessions.
Late registration and course additions continue through Aug. 24.
Other major dates for the school year's first semester include:
--Sept. 3, Scout Recognition and MSU Athletic Hall of Fame days, held in conjunction with the home football game versus Murray State University.
--Sept. 5, Labor Day holiday [University offices closed.].
--Sept. 24, Scholars Recognition and Alumni Band days, held in conjunction with the home football game versus the University of Georgia.
--Oct. 1, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Recognition Day, held in conjunction with the home football game versus Louisiana State University.
--Oct. 17 and 18, fall break [No classes for students, but administrative offices open.].
--Oct. 22, Homecoming (for university alumni and friends) and Discovery: MSU (for prospective students and their parents) days, held in conjunction with the home football game versus the University of Houston.
--Nov. 23-25, Thanksgiving holidays [No classes for students, but administrative offices open on Wednesday, the 23rd. Campus closed on the 24th and 25th.].
--Dec. 2, fall classes conclude.
--Dec. 5-9, final examinations.
--Dec. 9 and 10, Friday evening/Saturday morning commencement programs in Humphrey Colsieum.
