STARKVILLE, Miss.--The 2005 Mississippi State University Economic Development Outreach Forum will be held Wednesday [April 27] at Mississippi State's Bost Extension Center.
The 10 a.m.-5 p.m. program is designed to introduce state economic developers, elected officials, real estate developers, business leaders, utility and transportation personnel, and planners to services afforded by various university centers and institutes.
"Most people don't know the services we provide," said program coordinator Andy Donahou of the Division of Academic Outreach and Continuing Education. The showcase of MSU centers and institutes, research programs and development opportunities will be made available to groups in 15-minute presentations, he added.
Early registration is $50 per person if received by Monday [the 25th] via www.ce.msstate.edu/ptd/business or (662) 325-7330.
Late or on-site registration is $95.
"Traveling around the state meeting with economic development officials, one thing became apparent," said Thomas Adkins. "They all know MSU can do a lot to impact economic and industrial development, but they don't have any idea as to the various outreach activities available from the university."
Adkins is associate director of the Resource Referral Center/Technology Resource Institute, a forum sponsor.
"This outreach forum gives us a chance to showcase the resources we have on campus to assist in economic development efforts," added Michelle Johnston, manager of the Office of Continuing Education.
Donahou said the registration fee includes tickets to the MSU-University of Southern Mississippi baseball game following the forum at 6:30 p.m.
During the forum, participants also can register for a Thursday tournament at the MSU Golf Course. The $20 registration includes practice balls, a cart and green fees.
