Contact: Sammy McDavid

Secretary of State Eric Clark will be honored Friday [April 29] by Mississippi State's chapter of Pi Alpha Alpha, the national public administration honor society.

During a noon luncheon at the Leo Seal M-Club Building, he will be inducted as an honorary member of the organization, which recognizes individuals "who have achieved distinction in public administration and who possess the distinguished qualities that Pi Alpha Alpha fosters."

As is traditional, the honoree is asked to speak on a public administration topic of choice. Previous honorees have included former Gov. William Winter, former Secretary of State Dick Molpus, Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson, and Tougaloo College President Beverly Hogan, among others.

Clark, a Smith County native, is in his third term as secretary of state. The former college teacher holds a bachelor's degree from Millsaps College, a master's from the University of Mississippi and a doctorate in history from MSU. (For a complete biography, visit
