STARKVILLE, Miss.--The Mississippi State University Symphonic Band combines its collective talents with those of the new MSU-Community Band for a Sunday [April 10] concert on campus.
The free 3 p.m. performance in the McComas Hall theater will feature both traditional and contemporary selections.
The Symphonic Band is led by associate university band director Phil Min. Involving musicians from throughout the Golden Triangle, the two-year-old community group is directed by department of music education colleague Craig Aarhus, who serves as assistant director of bands.
"Our groups perform musical literature that ranges from marches and patriotic music to original music written for band," Aarhus said.
Robert Damm, another departmental colleague, will join the groups as a guest artist. The associate professor of music is a widely recognized percussionist.
