STARKVILLE, Miss.--A Saturday [Feb. 26] concert will join the talents of the Mississippi State University Chamber Singers with the Tupelo Symphony Orchestra and Tupelo Symphony Chorus.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. performance in Tupelo's Civic Auditorium are $15 in advance; $20 at the door; and $5 for MSU students and faculty members with valid identification.
"This is the first appearance of the chamber singers with the Tupelo Symphony, and it is a real honor for us," said MSU's Bruce Lesley. "We're pleased to be able to expand our outreach activities into the state."
Lesley is director of choral activities for MSU's music education department.
Steven Byass conducts the symphony orchestra, while the chorus is led by Beverly Clement.
The combined ensembles will perform "Serenade to Music" by Ralph Vaughn Williams and "Alexander Nevsky " by Sergei Prokofiev.
MSU students scheduled for solo presentations include Chris Cauthen, a music education major from Ackerman; Brook Herman, a biological sciences graduate student from Starkville; and Scott Brinkley, a business information systems major from Richmond, Va. All are students of voice professor Linda Karen Smith.
