"Intelligence Reform: Why We Need It" will be the topic of remarks in Jackson Thursday [Jan. 27] by the assistant secretary of the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research.
Thomas Fingar will address the Jackson Executive Lecture Forum following a noon reception and luncheon at the downtown University Club. While in the capital city, he also is scheduled to meet with state law enforcement leaders and Maj. Gen. Harold Cross, adjutant general of Mississippi.
Fingar's visit is sponsored by the Janos Radvanyi Chair in International Security Studies at Mississippi State University.
A career State Department employee, Fingar assumed his current position last July. Prior to that, he was the bureau's acting assistant on two occasions over a four-year period. A master's and doctoral graduate of Stanford University, he is the author of numerous publications, most involving Chinese politics and policymaking.
While ELF programs are not open to the general public, all interested members of the news media are invited to attend. To assure adequate seating, advance notice of attendance is requested at (662) 325-8406 or Janos Radvanyi.
