Art department announces 2005 student exhibition

STARKVILLE, Miss.--Winners of Mississippi State's 33rd annual Student Art and Design Competition are being featured through Feb. 11 in an art department-sponsored exhibition on campus.

A public reception honoring this year's winners and their works will take place 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday [Jan. 20] in the department's McComas Hall Gallery. The reception is co-hosted by the department, its gallery and the College of Architecture, Art and Design.

A collection of more than 100 photographs, paintings, drawings, ceramics, sculptures, and graphic design works are on display. The nearly three dozen awards presented to winners in the various categories are made possible by a host of Starkville businesses and organizations, as well as several national professional concerns.

Artist Wyatt Waters of Clinton and Katy Carter, an MSU graphic design graduate now of Athens, Ga., served as competition jurors.

Regular McComas Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday.
