A nationally recognized motivational speaker whose clients range from Bank of America to NASA will be featured Wednesday [Sept. 22] at Mississippi State.
Pegine Echevarria, whose "Team Pegine" training approach has been featured in the New York Times, Glamour Magazine, CNN, and other prominent media, will lead three sessions in the third-floor Faculty Lounge of the university's Colvard Union.
Open to all, her one-hour presentations begin at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.
Echevarria's visit is sponsored by MSU's Holmes Cultural Diversity Center and Division of Student Affairs to commemorate National Hispanic Awareness Month.
"Pegine is an energetic, engaging, and highly entertaining speaker," said Holmes Center director Aretha Jones-Cook. "Anyone interested in creating a more successful life will find that she offers practical, achievable suggestions."
Echevarria is the author of three books, including "Kick Butt Strategies for Success," "Go Fish for Friends, Business and Opportunities" and "For All Our Daughters: How Mentoring Helps Young Women and Girls Master the Art of Growing Up." She also has produced an extensive library of audio and learning products.
Her Ponte Vedra, Fla.-based company offers a menu of motivational activities in English and Spanish. "I'm most passionate about, and have dedicated my life to, the idea that every person must choose to be a leader in their personal, family, work, and community lives," Echevarria said. "We all have choices. Whatever the individual role, whether as a stay-at-home mom or a corporate leader, we must take care of our own responsibilities for improving our lives."
Echevarria holds degrees from Hunter College, Adelphi University and the Universidad de Madrid in Spain.
