To prepare for construction of a new residence hall on the north side of campus, parking will be greatly reduced in the lot behind Suttle Hall at Mississippi State University.
Beginning Monday [Aug. 30], barriers will be in place to mark areas that will be fenced off and inaccessible during the construction period.
A current one-way entrance road along the east side of the nine-story men's residence facility on Barr Avenue will become two-way. While parking on the entrance road will be eliminated, handicap parking spaces immediately behind Suttle will remain open.
Parking lot closures will remain in effect for football game-day parking.
Also, in preparation for the pending demolition of now-vacant Hightower Hall, the parking lot of that "boomerang hall" also is being closed.
As a result, parking at Critz, an adjacent "boomerang" residence, will require an alternate traffic flow, although its parking lots will remain open. To accommodate this change, residents are being encouraged to use the lot to the east of adjacent Smith Hall.
Smith and Duggar Hall to its north complete the "boomerang" residence complex that was built in the late 1950s.
