Fall semester classes at Mississippi State University get under way Wednesday, Aug. 18.
For residents of campus housing, "move-in day" will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7.
Aug. 16 and 17 are the final days to complete regular registration and pay tuition and fees. Aug. 17 also is the date of new student orientation for all who didn't attend the June sessions.
Late registration and course additions continue through Aug. 24. Other major dates for the school year's first semester include:
--Sept. 6, Labor Day holiday [university closed].
--Sept. 18, High School Scholars Recognition Day, in conjunction with the University of Maine football game.
--Oct. 9, Homecoming festivities for alumni and friends, in conjunction with the University of Alabama-Birmingham football game.
--Oct. 18-19, fall break for students [campus administrative offices are open].
--Oct. 30 (tentative), "Discovery: MSU" activities for prospective students, in conjunction with the University of Kentucky football game.
--Nov. 24-26, Thanksgiving holidays [no classes for students on the 24th and all university offices closed on the 25th and 26th].
--Dec. 3, classes conclude.
--Dec. 6-10, final examinations.
--Dec. 11, fall commencement exercises.
