Russian President Vladamir Putin and his foreign policies toward Europe will be examined Thursday, July 8, during a meeting of Jackson's Executive Lecture Forum.
Janusz Bugajski of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C., will be featured speaker for the ELF luncheon to begin at 11:45 a.m. at the Country Club of Jackson. "Putin's Doctrine in the New Europe" is the formal title of remarks by the director of the CSIS's department of East European studies.
The following day [the 9th], Bugajski travels to Mississippi State to deliver the same address to university students and faculty in business, history, political science, and sociology. To begin at 10 a.m. in 115 McCool Hall, the campus program concludes with a question-and-answer session.
His visit to Mississippi is being organized by MSU's Janos Radvanyi Chair of International Security Studies. His campus address is being co-sponsored by the dean's offices of the colleges of Business and Industry and Arts and Sciences.
He is the author of numerous books, the latest of which includes "Cold Peace: Russia's New Imperialism" (Praeger/Greenwood, 2004) and "Political Parties of Eastern Europe: A Guide to Politics in the Post-Communist Era" (M.E. Sharpe, 2002). Also in 2002, he edited a collaborative publication for the New York-based Council on Foreign Relations titled "Toward an Understanding of Russia: New European Perspectives."
A native of England and graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science, Bugajski joined the center in 1986. Over the years, he has been honored for his political science scholarship by the U.S. State Department, Agency for International Development, and Arms Control and Disarmament Agency.
