Works by some of the world's music masters will highlight a guest artist concert Oct. 20 at Mississippi State.

Anna Klein of Brooklyn, N.Y., an active soloist and chamber musician in the New York-New Jersey area, will present a public recital at 7:30 p.m. in the Bettersworth Auditorium of Giles Hall. Her visit is sponsored by the university's music education department.

Included in the program will be selections from Beethoven, Samuel Barber, Chopin, Ravel, and Grieg.

A St. Louis, Mo., native, Klein began piano studies at age 4. As a teenager, she was a semifinalist in the Stravinsky International Piano Competition. She went on to complete a bachelor's degree in piano performance from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a master's from the Manhattan School of Music.

Klein has performed at the Van Cliburn Summer Institute in Texas and the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado. She also has been selected to compete in the World Piano Competition of the American Music Association.

Represented by Artists International Presentations, she made her New York debut last year with a recital at Carnegie Hall. She also was a featured soloist last season at recitals in Missouri, Illinois and California.

As a chamber musician, Klein performs with the Delicato Ensemble, a group dedicated to the performance of new works by commissioned composers and lesser known works in the repertoire.
