Recently elected to lead the Mississippi State chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers for the 2003 fall semester are (l-r) president Ashley N. Powell of Crossett, Ark.; treasurer Kristy L. Bevis of Florence, Ala.; vice president William B. "Trey" Crumpton of Raleigh; secretary Julie E. Carnathan of Jackson; and Sarah M. Allen of Tremont, representative to the university's Bagley College of Engineering Student Council. All are seniors but Carnathan, who is a junior. The chapter, which has nearly 55 members, was honored earlier this year as the top student organization in IIE's Southeastern region. The engineering institute has some 17,000 members spread among more than 150 chapters worldwide.

Powell, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Powell, was honored along with the MSU chapter earlier this year for achievements in IIE's Southeastern region. She received a first-place award for presenting the best student research report.
Bevis is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bevis.
Crumpton is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bodie Crumpton.
Carnathan is the daughter of Kathleen Watters (39212).
