Workshops, exhibits and research-sharing sessions will be part of the fifth annual Regional Genealogical Fair June 14 at Mississippi State.

The 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. event at the university's Mitchell Memorial Library also includes tours of the library's genealogical resources, the largest repository of its kind in the state. In addition to the MSU Libraries, co-sponsors include the genealogical societies of Choctaw, Clay and Lowndes counties.

While the workshop is free to all, participants are asked to register in advance by telephoning (662) 325-7679 or by e-mailing lmueller@library.msstate.edu. Registrants completing the process by noon on June 11 may purchase a box lunch for $8.

Program topics and presenters for the 2003 sessions include:

--"Getting Children Interested in Family History," Juli H. Hughes, 4-H program assistant for the MSU Extension Service's Choctaw County office.

--"Online Searching," Russell James, archivist at Columbus-Lowndes County Public Library.
