he Northeast Mississippi banker serving this year as chair of the American Bankers Association speaks Tuesday [April 29] at Mississippi State University.
Aubrey B. Patterson, chairman and chief executive officer of Tupelo-based BancorpSouth Inc., will deliver the Leo Seal Executive Lecture at an 11 a.m. public program in the Rogers Auditorium of McCool Hall. He is a former president of the Mississippi Bankers Association.
MSU's College of Business and Industry sponsors the ongoing educational event.
Prior to his current ABA leadership role, Patterson was a member of the organization's board of directors and Government Relations Council, as well as a past chairman of the ABA's American Banking Council that represents the industry's larger financial institutions.
Patterson is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He also completed a master's degree at Michigan State University.
He is active in a range of local and regional service organizations and has held key positions on, among others, the Lee County Community Development Foundation, Mississippi Economic Council, and CREATE, Tupelo's community foundation.
The Seal speaker series is named for the longtime Gulf Coast bank executive and MSU alumnus who is counted among the institution's major benefactors.
