Students planning to enroll this year at Mississippi State are being encouraged to attend spring semester "Discovery: MSU."
The university's academic introductory program takes place 8-11:30 a.m. Feb. 14.
Following registration in the Colvard Union lobby, current high school and community college students--and their parents--will attend a 9:30 a.m. opening assembly in the nearby ballroom. Participants then will meet with advisers and faculty in the various fields of study, as well as staff members from the offices of admissions, campus housing, financial aid, cooperative education, and student organizations, among others.
"We remind students that May 1 is the application deadline for admission as a new freshman in the 2003 fall semester," said John Dickerson, director of enrollment services. "Though transfer students entering this fall have until Aug. 1 to apply, they also may wish to attend this session since it's the only Discovery program before that date."
Academic competitions for juniors and seniors in the subjects of American history, art, chemistry, foreign languages, and physics also are a part of spring Discovery activities.
