For persons seeking to boost personal skills in areas ranging from conversational Spanish to golf basics, Mississippi State offers a series of personal enrichment courses this spring.

Coordinated by the Division of Continuing Education, the classes provide instruction in a wide variety of topics that respond to interests expressed by area residents, said program facilitator Valerie Tate. University faculty and staff, as well as local experts, serve as instructors, she added.

In addition to Spanish and golf, other courses include introductory ceramics, cake decorating, floral design, stained-glass making, world wine survey, pine-straw basket weaving, piano, guitar, and home computing.

The division also welcomes ideas for other classes in the future.

"We are open to suggestions about topics that reflect the needs and desires of the community," Tate said.
