Music historian Barry Drake returns to Mississippi State Feb. 5 with his multimedia examination of 1970s rock 'n' roll music and culture.

The free public program titled "'70s Rock: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" begins at 6 p.m. in the Union Dawg House, a newly opened campus coffee shop located on the ground floor of the Colvard Union. The Campus Activities Board and Lectern Series are sponsors.

Drake, a songwriter, recording artist and performer, is a Manhattan College graduate and former New Yorker now living in Delray Beach, Fla. In 1984, he added to his concert schedule a series of historical lectures on the '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s.

Since then, his creative presentations have become one of the most popular shows at Mississippi State and other university and college campuses around the country. For five years between 1995 and 2000, he was named campus lecturer of the year by the National Association for Campus Activities. His extensive knowledge of music and entertainment also have resulted in similar honors from Campus Activities magazine.
