Music from the masters and modern composers will be featured Thursday [Feb. 6] at a Mississippi State University faculty recital.

Flutist Lana K. Johns and pianist Jackie Edwards-Henry, both members of the MSU music education department, will perform at 7:30 p.m. in McComas Hall theater. Tickets are $5.

The program will include selections by Johann Sebastian Bach, Camille Saint-Saens and, from the 19th and early 20th centuries, Pierre Sancan, Erwin Schulhoff and Eldin Burton.

The two performers formed the duo in 2001 and currently have a compact disc recording under way of Czech-composed music for flute and piano.

An active performer and clinician, Edwards-Henry is associate professor of piano and piano pedagogy. She holds a doctorate from the University of Oklahoma, with bachelor's and master's degrees from William Jewell College and the University of Illinois, respectively.

Johns has made appearances in South America, Europe and a variety of U.S. locations, including the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Carnegie Hall. She holds degrees in flute performance from the University of Cincinnati and Florida State University.
