An informational display on vision loss and rehabilitation for senior citizens is being featured through Oct. 31 at Mississippi State University's Mitchell Memorial Library.
Sponsored by the library's committee on the Americans with Disabilities Act, "Vision Loss is Not a Normal Part of Aging" is located in the second-floor atrium.
In conjunction with the exhibit, the committee is sponsoring a public program on Tuesday [Oct. 22] led by rehabilitation adviser B.J. LeJeune of the MSU Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision. Her 2 p.m. presentation in the first-floor auditorium will highlight normal and not-so-normal vision changes that may occur with age, as well as the benefits of rehabilitation services.
Informational booklets about vision loss and aging also will be available throughout the exhibition period. The free literature is provided by Lighthouse International, a not-for-profit organization that offers resources on vision impairment and vision rehabilitation.
Founded in 1905, Lighthouse International is headquartered in New York City.
