A group of Mississippi State students will go head-to-head with university faculty and staff members during a Sept. 25 basketball game that also features a half-court shootout and a dunk contest.

The MSU Black Student Alliance and Student Association are co-sponsors of the 7 p.m. event. In addition to the pick-up game and related activities, activities in the Sanderson Center's Auxiliary Gym will include a dance competition.

Awards will recognize winners in the various contests and general door prizes will be presented to lucky participants. Those attending also may purchase $2 tickets that qualify for a range of prizes, said Jermi D. Coleman, who is both Black Student Alliance president and the SA's minority affairs director.

"We still have spots open for faculty, staff and student competitors and encourage the campus to take advantage of an opportunity to interact in a good-natured setting," he added.

Coleman said the get-together among university family members is designed "to be both enjoyable and helpful in building a bridge between faculty and students outside the classroom."
