A competition sponsored by two Mississippi State organizations will encourage teamwork among employees while putting on a welcoming face for the university's Oct. 12 homecoming events.

The Division of Student Affairs and Professional and Support Staff Council are inviting members of their staffs to decorate building front-doors for a themed competition to be judged Oct. 10.

"Ring the Bell and Give 'em 'Hail State" is this year's Homecoming theme. Oct. 2 is the application deadline.

"Applications recently were sent to appropriate building supervisors, who were asked to submit one application per building with the names of team members," said Julie L. Berry, PSSAC event chair.

First-, second- and third-place prizes will go to the top selections.

Berry said that, while creativity will be recognized, participating teams must work within the following guidelines:

--Decorations may not obstruct traffic flow.

--Windows may not be decorated with paint or shoe polish.

--Team members must agree to remove their work by Oct. 14.
