Kevin L. Armbrust

Kevin L. Armbrust is the new state chemist and director of the Mississippi State Chemical Laboratory.

Also an associate professor in the university's chemistry department, he succeeds Earl G. Alley, who retired last year.

Armbrust formerly was a researcher and assistant professor in the University of Georgia Extension Service. Prior to that, he worked as a research chemist with DuPont Agricultural Products.

A specialist in environmental chemistry and toxicology, he has worked extensively with state and federal regulators and industry to solve issues impacting business, farming and environmental interests.

Armbrust holds a bachelor's degree in environmental toxicology and a doctorate in agricultural and environmental chemistry from the University of California at Davis.
