More than 200 students are new members of the leading national higher education honor society at Mississippi State University.

Phi Kappa Phi membership is open to seniors at the top of their class in all majors. Graduate students, juniors and some sophomores whose scholastic achievements are at the very highest levels also are eligible.

Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 at the University of Maine. At present, there are more than 250 chapters worldwide with a total membership of some 50,000.

In addition to the students, the 2001 fall and 2002 spring semester inductions welcomed several MSU faculty as honorary members. They include Joseph A. Chromiak of health, physical education, recreation, and sport; Walter J. Diehl of biological sciences; William G. Hardin III of finance and economics; Rose Q.
