The memory of a Mississippi State alumnus and Corinth native is being honored by his family and his employer with a scholarship at the university.

The Clifford Dewitt Dalton Endowed Scholarship is a memorial in the College of Business and Industry made possible by parents Bill and Becky Dalton and brother Will Dalton, all of Corinth, along with the AmFed Cos. of Ridgeland.

AmFed is Mississippi's largest provider of worker's compensation coverage and third-party administration services.

Dalton, 24, was a May 2001 general business administration graduate pursuing a career in insurance at AmFed when he died last year. He was following in the footsteps of his father, who is executive vice president and manager of the Peoples Insurance Agency in Corinth, formerly the Bill Dalton Agency.

The scholarship will be available for full-time students pursuing a bachelor's degree in either general business administration, insurance or financial services. College officials said the first awards will be made in 2003.

The Dalton Endowed Fund is an open trust in the MSU Foundation and may be increased through additional contributions. For more information, telephone (662) 325-1006.
